After getting snubbed from the first round of the NFL draft, a big and long-awaited relief came for Luther Burden in the second round on Friday. The Chicago Bears drafted the standout with the 39th pick in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night. After the news of the selection came out, the Bears responded to the wide receiver’s post with an image of their own. However, the post had a witty twist that left many shocked.

The Chicago Bears, after successfully drafting Luther Burden, posted a witty reply to his post from Thursday night. The Bears posted another image of a collection of Bears gear atop their own practice field. They captioned the image with the timestamp of 6:40 PM CT. This was the exact time Luther Burden was selected by the Chicago Bears. “We’re ready for you,”  is what the caption further said, along with the time stamp. The post indicated that the Bears are pretty eager for the talented Tigers WR to join them in Chicago.

Luther Burden seems equally excited about joining the Bears in the Wind City now that he has been finally selected. He expressed his excitement through another post on social media soon after the Chicago Bears posted their response to his Thursday post. In the post, he stated, “Chicago, man, it’s Luther Burden here. I can’t wait to get to work and get to Chicago, man. Bear down, let’s go.” 

What Did Luther Burden Say About His Late Night Workout On Thursday?

Joey Van Zummermen, the Mizzou Sports Illustrated reporter, questioned Luther Burden about why he was working out on the practice field after his fallout in the first round. In response to this, Luther Burden stated he did so to clear his head. He explained how the field always acts as an escape for him. Luther further added that he felt like hitting the field on Thursday night. He also revealed his girlfriend was feeding him passes through the jug machines during his late-night workout at the field.

How Is Luther Burden’s Selection Beneficial For The Bears? 

With Luther Burden’s selection, the Chicago Bears have strengthened their receiver room even more. Luther is going to join Colston Loveland, DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, and signal caller Caleb Williams. The best part about Luther Burden joining the Bears is that he will get to learn from Moore, who possesses a similar skill set to his. The team has also picked Boston College OT Ozzy Trapilo (No. 56) in the second round, addressing its offensive line needs. It has also selected Texas A&M DT Shemar Turner (No. 62) in the same round.
