Presenter of thought-provoking theories and analyses of societal trends, journalist and author Malcolm Gladwell arrived on the literary scene in 2000 with his first book, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference, followed by 2005?s Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking.
A philosophical guru of sorts, his books offer unique perspectives on pop culture, society, human behavior,? trends and politics, and the point at which these themes intersect – and intertwine, if you will.
Born in England in 1963, he is a favorite among the new generation of hipster business professionals, thinkers and entrepreneurs and is a sought-after mentor and speaker in those circles.
An intellectual whose work has been featured in The New Yorker, Gladwell is the recipient of two honorary degrees and, in 2005, was named one of Time magazine?s most influential people.
His latest book is David & Goliath. In a recent interview with Business Insider, Gladwell describes its message as, ?An examination of the idea of advantage and, particularly, it looks at asymmetrical conflicts ? conflicts between one very large and one not-so-large party. How do we account for the unusual number of successes that underdogs have in those situations? The book takes off from there to try and figure out whether our assumptions about what makes for an advantage are accurate.?
