Despite valiant efforts, The Arsenio Hall Show has been cancelled. The veteran television show host, comedian and actor, who had a successful run with The Arsenio Hall Show in the early ?90s said, “I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created.”
CBS Television Distribution announced the cancellation citing low ratings among the 18-49 audience.
The news came as a surpise to some viewers because CBS had previously announced, earlier this year, that there would be a second season.
The original show ran from 1989 to 1994. Hall received acclaim for appealing to a young, urban audience that quickly expanded to a mainstream audience. The format consisted of stand-up comedy, interviews and musical performances.
The last episode of the show’s second run, which premiered in September 2013, aired on May 21.
