Avoid premature aging by learning how to read the signs.
How can you tell if your body is aging too fast? Aside from the common telltale signs of aging such as the appearance of wrinkles, age spots and crow’s feet, there are several other warning signs that you need to be aware of if you want to live a longer and healthier life. Here are some of them:
Red Eyes
If you usually have red eyes, it may be an indication that you are suffering from something far more serious than just a case of seasonal allergies. For all you know, it may be already be a symptom of arthritis. Studies show that early detection and treatment would yield better long-term results so make sure you consult your doctor at the first sign of the disease.
In addition, you should also start on an alkaline diet to reduce inflammation, pain and swelling of the joints. For best results, consider including the following foods into your daily diet:
- Fruits rich in vitamin C such as blackberries, strawberries and cantaloupes
- Fibrous vegetables that are rich in beta-carotene including carrots, squash and sweet potatoes
- Green leafy vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli and spinach
- Nuts, especially walnuts and almonds?
Cotton Mouth
Do you usually wake up with a dry and uncomfortable feeling in your mouth? If you do, you may be suffering from sleep apnea, a sleep disorder that causes you to stop breathing for a few seconds to a few minutes while you sleep. For some people, these breathing pauses may occur for 30 times or more in an hour. If left untreated, this condition may lead to excessive daytime fatigue and sleepiness, obesity, liver problems, high blood pressure, heart attack and strokes.
Loss of Smell
You may not think much about it but losing your sense of smell can be an early indication of some serious medical conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Both of these conditions can severely affect your quality of life so consult your doctor at the first sign of trouble.
Hairless Feet and Toes
Don’t take this lightly for it can already be a sign of vascular disease, a condition that may increase your risk for heart attacks and strokes. If you don’t have any hairs on your feet and toes, this may mean that there is significant obstruction to the blood flow to your lower extremities resulting in the death of the blood vessels under the skin. So, what should you do about it? Consult your doctor, eat a healthy diet and adopt a regular exercise routine. It’s the only way to stop the disease in its tracks.
You have the power to control how your body ages so make sure you live a healthy and active lifestyle. Remember, it’s a choice that only you can make.
