Apple AAPL +0.11% has announced a rare recall, warning today that its Beats Pill XL speakers pose a fire risk and urging customers to stop using them.
?Apple has determined that, in rare cases, the battery in the Beats Pill XL may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. The recall does not affect any other Beats or Apple products,? a brief statement read. The company has promised a refund, either in store credit or $325 bank transfer, and users can determine what to do via this website.
The speakers were released by Beats by Dre in November 2013, ahead of the Apple acquisition in 2014.
Apple was not available to comment at the time of publication on whether customers had actually complained about the issue, or when the issue was discovered.
