AP review finds no threatened WikiLeaks sources

WASHINGTON (AP) ? The U.S. has condemned the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks for putting lives in danger.

But how many is unclear.

An Associated Press review of some of the hundreds of U.S. diplomatic contacts deemed especially sensitive turns up several people who are either comfortable with their names out in the open or even surprised that their information was so highly valued.

U.S. officials say they’ve had to relocate a handful of people to ensure their safety. But they won’t provide any details.

The question of whether the dire U.S. warnings are warranted or overblown are front and center again after Julian Assange’s WikiLeaks recently released all of the more than 250,000 memos in its cache. The names of people who provided information to American diplomats around the world weren’t blacked out.
