Ansley Foods Launches Ansleyribs.Com

Tenacity and a 1972 Dodge motor home converted into a kitchen propelled President and CEO Mark Ansley’s food service company, Ansley Foods, into an international food conglomerate. One of the fastest growing segments of the food business is heat n serve, pre-cooked and pre-packaged meals. Now, you can order St. Louis-style pre-cooked ribs online and have them delivered to your home for dinner within 48 hours.

Convenient pre-packaged ribs are all natural and contain no artificial smoke or flavoring. Slow smoked and flash-frozen, they are packaged and shipped direct throughout the United States, Europe and the Middle East everyday.

Ansley started Ribs on Wheels in 1997, selling his ribs from a paneled truck, and eventually, Miss Humpty his Dodge motor home. As the business grew Ansley worked with a food broker, and developed his own flavor profile of hardwood smoked St. Louis-style ribs, pulled pork and pulled chicken in barbeque sauce. Ansley’s first military customer, a naval base in Mayport, Florida, led to purchases from other naval bases up and down the east coast starting in 2003.

In 2005 the company moved from annual sales of 1,000 pounds to 40,000 pounds of ribs to more than one million pounds of meat and changed the name from Ribs on Wheels to Ansley’s Foods. Selling to the Department of Defense, the company is expanding, offering more than 25 products including seafood, nutritional drinks, and most recently, a Hispanic line of foods online.

Ansley’s enterprises also include a restaurant, AJ’s on Park Street, also located in Jacksonville. Mark Ansley is a product of Duval County Public Schools and graduated in 1981 from Florida A&M School of Business and Industry with a bachelor’s degree in management and administration. He serves on the board for Students of Success Academy, a charter school in Jacksonville, and is an avid patron of organizations that support autism.
