Many countries around the world like those in Europe, Canada, Denmark, and Finland, have issued stricter travel guidelines for people ready to go to the US. This came amid the reports of ICE detaining and deporting both foreign visitors in the country as well as US citizens. European countries and Canada have urged their citizens to complete their paperwork before traveling. On the other hand, Denmark and Finland have issued advisories for transgender travelers to report to the embassy before traveling. Many American citizens took to the internet and reacted to stricter travel guidelines from other countries. This article brings you a brief outlook on how Americans are reacting to the stricter travel guidelines.

Americans React To Stricter Travel Guidelines

Statements From Citizens Who Think They Are Justified

Many US citizens think that the stricter guidelines from other countries are justified and completely make sense. One of the users mentioned how it’s all the same stuff that applies to US citizens when they travel abroad. They also added that it is hard for them to understand why following other countries’ immigration laws is a big deal. Another user also added that stricter guidelines make complete sense. They added explaining how these countries have warned their citizens not to overstay their visas, provide inaccurate purposes of visit, or commit crimes. This is completely reasonable for countries to tell their citizens how to act abroad.

A Citizen Tells Travelers To “Take Your Tourism Funds Elsewhere”

Another user from the internet left a long comment suggesting people take their tourism funds elsewhere. In the comment, the user mentioned he’s a white male as well as a US citizen. He also added that he had traveled all over the world, including the USSR, when it existed.

The user accepted that the border control officers are not exactly friendly but more business-like, efficient, and impersonal. They will just check your passport and let you go. However, that is not the case with the US border security force.

He said that the border control in the USA is inefficient, rude, and just generally unpleasant. The user mentioned that his comment is based on his return trip experience in 2022 and 2024. He thinks that the travel advisories are worth considering and people should take their tourism funds elsewhere for the time being.

US Citizens Unhappy With The Government React

One of the users mentioned that the other countries should keep it up and that foreign travelers should not come to the US. They added that this is the only way to hit them in the pocketbook. Another US native mentioned how they don’t feel safe living in the country themselves. They also added that they are actually renewing their passports just in case. Another user commented how this is a complete embarrassment for the country, while the other said they wouldn’t come to the US either, considering the disease outbreak and political issues. A Latino user also mentioned that they are considering moving out of the US as well. The other just said they hope all the countries boycott travel to the US, as it will be a massive economic hit.

“Who Cares?” Asks Another Citizen

A user of the internet also ended up questioning who cares if other countries issue travel guidelines. They would neither ban travelers from America, as they rely on tourists for large portions of their income, nor would they actually stop their own tourism, since many Europeans still visit the US. This citizen even claimed this was a dumb publicity stunt because the leaders of those countries don’t like Trump. The citizen also agreed that Trump is an easy target, but also stated that countries shouldn’t make empty threats. They should either actually do something or just stay quiet.
