    WHAT: Press conference to announce Occupy Wall Street is expanding its base and  intensifying its efforts by welcoming Black church clergy to join the movement to address income inequality and economic injustice under the banner of Occupy the Dream.

    Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis Jr. a civil rights icon and veteran with a long track record of service for the National Council of Churches in the U.S.A.; the United Church of Christ Commission for Racial Justice in the 1970s and 1980s; and in the 1960s Dr. Chavis was the NC State Youth Coordinator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Chavis was also the former Executive Director and CEO of the NAACP and the National Director of the Million Man March in the 1990s; Dr. Chavis is Co-Founder with Russell Simmons of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN).  Dr. Chavis has been providing assistance to Russell Simmons in support of Occupy Wall Street.
