Vice President, Interactive Marketing?
L?Or?al USA International Designer Collections ? L?Oreal Luxe
New York, N.Y.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Ghanaian parents, Richard Manso received a bachelor?s degree in management information systems from Pace University during the rapid growth of eCommerce in the late 1990s. He also earned an MBA in marketing at Pace, focusing on innovation and technological management. After 10 years of technology consulting and digital agency work, where he worked with blue-chip clients, he landed at L?Oreal?s Luxe Division and is now vice president of Interactive Marketing & E-Commerce. He has benefitted from the tutelage of two L?Oreal executives, Daren Hull and Alessio Rossi. ?These are two leaders at L?Oreal who have showed me, first-hand, how to continuously deliver at a high level,? he reflects.?
As vice president, Manso heads e-business for the beauty giant?s international designer brand collections, including Giorgio Armani Beauty and Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, as well as Viktor & Rolf and Ralph Lauren fragrances. His approach to work is guided by the words of former U.S. Secretary of State Gen. (Ret.) Colin Powell, ?A dream doesn?t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.? As a result, his teams have received yearly achievement awards for brand digital excellence and for achieving sales goals. His own hard work aside, he gives credit for such recognition to the ?talented teams? that have shared his vision and implemented his team-first philosophy. In addition, he notes, ?My uncle, Emmanuel Apau, was my role model and career coach during the early years of my career.??
Manso organizes an annual collection of gently used clothes for men?s shelters in New York City, and addresses minority high school students who are interested in technology. He muses, ?I never feel satisfied with what I learn on a one- or two-week international vacation. I wish I had more time to immerse myself in a country?s people, traditions and foods.?
