Senior Associate Attorney
Kelley Drye & Warren LLP
After just nine years practicing law, Raqiyyah R. Pippins is a senior associate attorney at Kelly Drye & Warren LLP, representing Fortune 500 companies before the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau in their challenges of ?competitors? advertising of consumer products. ?Pippins has polished her expertise from enforcing consumer product laws promulgated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Trade Commission and the State?s Attorney Generals. ?She holds a bachelor?s degree from Stanford University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Pippins uses her advocacy skills to ensure a continuous pipeline of African-American attorneys in America. ?I have always been passionate about the education of Black youth and how their value systems can impact future progress,? she says. Indeed, from serving as chair of the National Black Law Students Association to her pro bono rotation with the Children?s Law Center, Pippins has always made time to give back to the community while advancing her law career. She coordinates the annual D.C. Roadshow at the University of Virginia School of Law, an initiative developed by local law firms to encourage African-American law students to practice law in the D.C. area.
Reinforcing her comitment to African-American youth, she chairs the Next Generation Leaders board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, D.C., region. ??Whether performing pro bono legal work, mentoring, working with the Boys & Girls Clubs, or reading psychological studies, my goal is the same: identify mechanisms to help empower our youth and remind them of who they are, as well as whose they are,? reflects Pippins. She credits her parents, her Christian upbringing and her membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. with imbuing her with a sustained drive for excellence without compromising her values.
