Project Manager, Community Affairs ? ??
Delta Air Lines Inc.?
The nickname, ?Big Friendly,? speaks volumes about LaSandra Boykin and why she quickly advanced at Delta Air Lines Inc. since she was hired in 2007. ?Seeking a new challenge in her role at Delta, and not shy about revealing this to her manager, Boykin was given a rare opportunity to spend eight months simultaneously in the community affairs and on-board services departments. ?This amazing opportunity allowed me to follow my passion, which is helping others and making a difference where I live and work,? she affirms. She now holds the title of Project Manager, Community Affairs, and manages and coordinates employee volunteer engagement with Junior Achievement, playground builder KaBOOM!, Pride Events, and the 100 Black Men of America Atlanta Football Classic and other community projects.?
Boykin moved around often as a child and a career in aviation seems fitting. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, she has lived in Illinois, New York and Georgia. By the time she finished college, she had been to nine different schools since kindergarten. The constant moving made her comfortable with strangers. ?I love people and I strive to get to know others, not just their name and careers, but who they really are and what their passions are,? she says.?
A self-described ?true Tarheel,? Boykin graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor?s degree in management and society and membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She serves on the leadership team for United Way Youth Professional Board, as a member of Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, and as a facilitator for business skills workshops organized by INROADS Alumni Association. In February, she received Hyatt Regency Atlanta?s Hyatt Herald Award celebrating next-generation leaders who are working to bring positive change to their local community.?
