Emily S. Greer
Chief Administrative Officer
ALSAC/ St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital?
Memphis, TN
Emily S. Greer enjoys being chief administrative officer at ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital. ?Imagine being able to come to work every day and do the kind of work that you love, and on top of that, know that the ultimate benefit helps save children around the world,? she says. She acknowledges the daily challenge. ?We are donor supported and we take seriously the responsibility we have to ensure that every dollar is spent wisely. This is the challenge I take on every day and one that I have embraced for almost twenty-five years,? she says. She acknowledges, too, the impact of others on her career. ?No matter how smart or talented you are, there can be no success in your career unless there are others willing to reach down and lift you up, especially when you would otherwise lack the visibility and influence in an organization to grow. This happened three times with three different executives in my career,? she says.
Greer is committed to paying it forward ?for as long as I live,? serving on nonprofit boards and hoping to influence public education for disadvantaged youth. ?Many things would be possible in public education if we shifted our mindset and understood that NOTHING is more important for our future than to ensure ALL CHILDREN are prepared to lead productive lives and be given the chance to solve the challenges of the future. If we put our best minds and financial resources toward our challenges in public education, it will change the lives of these children and therefore the futures of countless families. What is more important?? she says.
Greer has a bachelor?s degree in business administration from Christian Brothers University, an MBA from the University of Memphis, and Senior Professional Human Resources certification from the Society of Human Resources.
