Arva Rice was named president and CEO of the New York Urban League. Rice has more than 15 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector, most recently as executive director of Project Enterprise, which provides business loans, technical assistance and peer support to New York City entrepreneurs. She was the founding executive director of Public Allies New York, a young-adult program that develops nonprofit leaders; director of an economic literacy initiative at Girls Inc.; technical assistance director at the Fund for the City of New York; and helped develop the Sisters Lending Circle, where low-income young women receive training in personal money management, saving and investing and small-business management. Rice is a 2005 Network Journal Forty Under 40 honoree. She graduated from Northwestern University’s School of Education and has a master’s degree from Columbia University.
